Star Ocean Buffet in Rochester

Food is okay. Some food was cold, fried chicken had no flavor , mashed potatoes were instant , fried rice was dry. Service was decent but had to wait along time for refills on drinks even though the place wasn’t very busy and you could see them just standing around talking. Staff isn’t very friendly. Overall for the price we paid for 3 people $36 was not worth it at all. Won’t be going back any time soon

Well kept buffet. I liked the butterfly fried shrimp and sushi.

Okay for lunch but not worth the price for dinner. Also dirty, crusty spoons

It was great! Enormous and clean and fresh. Staff was prompt and helpful. Since I have a slight shellfish allergy, I had to guess on some of the sushi rolls, but otherwise everything was well- marked.

Everything tasted fresh and the environment was clean and peaceful. Great Job!

nasty over priced food is left out way to long glasses and silverware are not very clean and old food all over floor

Good price for what your getting we went in the The middle of the day everything was fresh and the place was clean the staff was ok not out of there way friendly but seemed to care about their work and keeping the place looking it's best and going around stirring the food keeping it fresh. I'll be back! Very recommended!

Every thing was fresh. The fish was great. The steak pieces you will need your very sharp teeth.

Hands down the best buffet in town!! The food was great, the service was great, and the ambiance was gorgeous! Huge selection of food and sushi. There was a big variety fresh fruit too! My new favorite buffet!

Maybe 4 star if compared to $25 buffet in seattle or Vancouver bc but close in quality to big buffets in twin cities and big step up for Rochester and medical tourists compared to usual so so asian food in town and the country buffet that used to be here. Octopus sushi sashimi salad or mongolian bbq is unusual and only limit is on crab. Sometime hibachi steak. Asians come here with locals and tourists it i new favorite though kingdom is bit cheaper and they have coupons to stay competitive

Boss took us IT folks out for lunch here as one had never been. Food is usually good as long as you don't expect too much as the quality is reflected in the price and the fact that its a buffet. Knowing this it was as expected and maybe a little better. Nothing was cold or dry and there was plenty of everything. Staff was attentive to empty plates and drinks so kudos to them. Price is reasonable for a buffet and the location has plenty of parking.

Had a good selection of food, however service was HORRIBLE Server got our drinks mixed up and then took forever to return back to refill our drinks and spoke very little english.

As far as Chinese buffets go, this place is pretty great. There are loads of healthier options and something for everyone. They have sushi, a Mongolian grill, and a wide variety of American, and Asian-Amreican options. Not too many things are very authentic Asian dishes, but I was surprised to see a few things with ube. The place is clean, the service is okay. The bathrooms have always been spotless. The coy pond is a nice touch too! This is a buffet, so I'm rating it in comparison to other buffets.

A pay first buffet. Largest selection of foods for a Chinese buffet in Rochester, that all seemed to be fresh. The service was prompt, pleasant and efficient. I never had to ask to have my glass refilled and plates did not pile up on my table. Per the waitress, there are no crab legs during the week, just on weekends. The price is comparable to the couple other Chinese buffets in town. There is plenty of parking and is easy to get to as it is right off of the 52.

Beautiful array of food items, CLEAN, and incredibly yummy. Well priced! Will stop in again next time I am in the area.

Its ok. Kind of goes in streaks. There are times the food is good and kept at the right temp. There are other times the food isn't as good and kept at a lukewarm almost cold temp

Almost everything was fresh the scallops were perfect which was Nice! Since last time they were older. Squid was perfect when it was fresh! Blue crab was nice also. Best wait staff ever he was on it when we needed refills and clean up so nice!

I've been to Star Ocean twice. The place is really decorated nicely. Love the koi pond that they have with the water coming down the wall. But the food here was just okay. Not always the freshest. I could not believe that they limited crab legs to only four! Four?! Seriously? I like the idea of limiting because I've been to places where I can never get any because they are gone as soon as they are put out. But Star Ocean was so slow in putting out more that I still was never able to get any. I felt the price was rather steep too.

First time ever coming here. The atmosphere on the inside is very beautiful. I did not notice a single section of the restaurant to be cluttered or appearing dirty. The staff was very friendly and felt genuinely happy to be there. The attention to detail of monitoring customers cups was by far fantastic, moment my glass was half full they refilled. Tables where being wiped down often to maintain sanitation. They have a HUGE selection to choose from. I will happily return as the food tasted fantastic

This is a fabulous buffet! The staff are great, prices are very reasonable, the decor is really nice, and the food is fresh, bountiful, and wonderfully diverse. And I didn't even know about the Mongolian dinner option that was included! Will definitely return to my new favorite Rochester buffet.

Good variety including Japanese sushi, Mongolian hibachi, and American-Chinese buffet with dessert line and soft serve machine all included. Clean and well stocked. Choices to fit all diets. Mongolian food is cooked on the spot so there's always a cooked-to-order type option. They refresh the buffet based on what people are eating, so more popular times have more freshly made food. Sushi has some additional fresh fish options during dinner and weekend, buffet does not change, but prices are different for lunch and dinner/weekend. Finish with a fortune cookie, and a visit to the Koi pond on the way out, which is always fun.

Sushi dry, pretty much everything wasnt that good. Besides the salmon. They have really good salmon. Ice cream and desserts were good, salad was good, staffs great though!

Food was barely look warm when eating at prime dining to 5:45pm, very disappointed

Food is ok, no has the big variaty but good flavor. Not much seafood such as salted shrimps,crab legs, oysters.They charge you for drinks too. Price a little bit too much for my opinion. They have Hibachi grill, the place looks clean.

Food is Always Amazing! Lots of great choices, especially on the weekends, and the service was great! Great choice! Sushi was also very good! Their Chinese food is way better than any others in town! Staff very attentive and wonderful service! 5 stars for sure!

Great food choices and fast service

Walked in and was told I needed to purchase a mask from them. Or I could not eat there. Needless to say i walked out. Thanks for makeing stupid rules and trying to profit off of it. Never again.

Price is great for all that is to offer. The staff and the building is very clean cut. Would highly recommend to someone who hasn't eaten here before!

Food is good, going in with the expectation you get what you pay for. Don't order soda, Soo watered down, just stick with water. Would still consider a nice buffet!

Love this place I will keep returning. The coconut shrimp during the dinner rush is absolutely amazing. After dinner rush it's still decent but not half as good when its fresh, other than that good place for a fair price with a large selection.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Nice variety of dinner items, fresh-looking salad bar, good seafood options. Will go again versus other places in town.

Incredible selection and you can not beat the price. (Can get coupons in the shopper) sushi was comparable to that of higher end local establishments. Wait staff is very friendly. The only other buffet in town that has sushi does not even compare to this place! I would eat here every day if I could! wonderful atmosphere! I could go on and on forever! Hands down my favorite buffet in town.
